James Ma, Ph.D.
President

James founded PepTech Corp. 20 years ago with a vision to provide top quality chemistry products and services to the pharma industry. Without any outside funding, he has grown the company from a few employees to about 200 chemists with two facilities. Previously he had worked in the biotech industry for several years on drug discovery research. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry from University of Louisville and was awarded the Dean’s Citation for Excellence.

Haifeng Yin, Ph.D.
Vice President, Chemistry

Haifeng is responsible for managing and directing the company’s overall chemistry research efforts. Prior to joining PepTech, Haifeng had worked at Carlsberg Research Center in Denmark for 5 years. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from China Pharmaceutical University and conducted postdoctoral work at Ohio State University, where he developed new methods for the total synthesis of steroidal natural products and various steroidal medicines and their derivatives, such as Finasteride and Budesonide. He also has extensive experience in the design and synthesis of combinatorial libraries. He has many publications and patents and has given presentations in many scientific conferences. At PepTech, he has led the successful completion of thousands of projects on custom synthesis, process development, medicinal chemistry and large scale manufacturing.

Xiaowen Sun, Ph.D.
Director, Medicinal Chemistry

Xiaowen supervises and manages all the medicinal chemistry projects at PepTech. He got his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Lanzhou University. He has over 14 years of academic and industry experience working in France, UK and US. He investigated the total synthesis of insect antifeedant azadirachtin in the Scripps Research Institute under the guidance of Prof. K. C. Nicolaou. Prior to joining PepTech, he conducted medicinal chemistry research in Abraxis BioScience Inc. for five years.

Wenhua Deng, Ph.D.
Director, Analytical Chemistry

Wenhua is responsible for analytical R&D and quality control. He got his Ph.D. from Tongji University. He is an expert in cleaning validation, analytical method development, validation and transfer for APIs and formulated drug products. He is well versed in ICH, USP, EP and ChP regulations and guidelines. He has many years of experience in using and training others to use HPLC, UPLC, CE, LCMS, GC, GCMS and NMR instruments.

Zenghua Zhang
Plant Manager

Zenghua manages the daily operation of our chemical plant. He is responsible for the safety, personnel, facilities and production. He got his BS in chemistry from Lanzhou University and has been working in the fine chemical industry for 16 years now. He is very experienced in the process development and manufacturing of advanced pharma intermediates and APIs under cGMP. He has managed many large scale manufacturing projects successfully and ensured all the projects are delivered on time and with good quality.

Jianguo Guo
Director, Quality Assurance

Jianguo got his MS degree in Chemistry from East China University of Science and Technology. He has been working in the pharma industry for 13 years as production and QA director. He is thoroughly familiar with cGMP and ISO9001 quality standards. He has strong expertise in the implementation of quality assurance systems to ensure compliance with cGMP and ISO 9001 standards. He has guided many successful audits by our US and European customers.
